Conversion of Office Building into Student Housing – Davout

This office building, constructed in the 1990s on Boulevard Davout in Paris’s 20th arrondissement as part of a slab-based urban planning approach, is being transformed into a student residence comprising 290 units and ground-floor retail spaces. The project benefits from a privileged location along the T3 tramway line.

Working closely with the existing structural framework, the architectural intervention seeks to break away from the building’s tertiary identity and restore a residential scale. The design reintroduces a sense of domestic urbanity, inspired by the historic HBM housing typologies along the Boulevards des Maréchaux.

The transformation repositions the building within its context, shifting from an inward-looking office typology to an open, inhabited structure integrated into everyday city life.
