L’autre Soie

L'autre Soie

L’Autre Soie reactivates the former Jeanne d’Arc hostel, a landmark building in the history of a district currently undergoing major transformation. Originally designed to accommodate female silk workers, the project extends its legacy towards a renewed identity, inherently open to others.
The architectural concept is anchored in the building’s central space: La Rotonde. This space acts as the building’s nerve centre, itself located at the geographic heart of the L’Autre Soie development. Following a concentric logic of organisation, it becomes both a point of convergence and a place of redistribution for human activity and interaction.
The project is exemplary in its commitment to circular economy principles. It fully explores the potential of reuse, maximising on-site material recovery through the preservation, refurbishment and transformation of existing elements.
